The "Collaborator"
This little app/activity is based off a thought-experiment I had about the inherent unfairness of voting in classes. "Majority" rule can often simply mean the most popular/confident students, and not necessarily the best ideas or fairest solution. So I thought - how can I increase the chances of a "smaller" voice getting to have their say in a fair(ish) way that accounts for larger proportions of the class favoring one idea? This is what I came up with. Fill in the text headings at the beginning with whatever is getting "voted" on, while tallying the number/proportion of votes next to it. Leave extras at "0" to keep them off the board. Then, when you begin, the cannon will launch a ball that bounces around and hits your ideas - whichever gets hit the most, wins. (this can also become a probability/sampling data lesson, as a low-proportion idea could still "win," due to the play of random chance and how we "sample" our answers) Again - try it out and let me know how this can get better and nicer to use.
