teaching highlights
Before I was leading schools, educational programs, or an ed-tech design team, I was a Middle School Math Teacher (I also taught some other things on the side). If you click on the images or follow the links below, you can get a small taste of the kind of work I did with students. This is by no means all my best teaching, but it is a collection of some work I am proud of that also lent itself to a satisfying aesthetic display for your perusal (and/or did not violate privacy of my students). I hope you enjoy it.
Cell Phone design (aka "Capitalism 101")
Focused on state Geometry standards (but also incorporating standards in Algebra and Statistics), students went through the process of creating and marketing a cell phone - from physical design (including selecting materials) to pricing and sales projections. Quote of the class (from one of my most math-phobic students): "Greg, this is fun and all, but it's a little ridiculous because I thought this was supposed to be a math class!"

music production
Addressing state standards in Calculations and Estimations as well as Public Speaking, students formed their own music production companies and produced their own songs. This involved learning various digital audio editing and production tools, as well as creating and managing a budget.

You teach the class . . . class
Teaching ain't so easy. My students found that out the hard way as they worked on their research, writing, and Public Speaking standards while designing their own lesson plans to deliver to their peers (as well as assessments to track the success of their lessons). I never had students respect my work more than at the end of this trimester-long class.
